FMA BOARD SPOTLIGHT
Now that we have a successful first year behind us, we want to salute the board members who contributed to our success when they signed on to launch the FMA. We would not be here without them. Each one represents a critically important part of the WM production team, starting with Gaffer Dave Lowing, owner and founder of Lowing Light & Grip, and Lowing Studios.
As the chief lighting technician, the head electrician responsible for the execution of the lighting plan for a production, Dave has built a career and a reputation not just for his expertise but his willingness to mentor others to build the West Michigan production community. Over the years, he turned into reality his vision of becoming a high quality lighting house serving West Michigan.
Today, his business has moved beyond a single van to a fleet of grip trucks; Lowing Light & Grip occupies half a Wyoming city block necessary to store the gear that caters to productions inside and outside of Michigan; and Lowing Studios is housed in an expansive 7,600 square foot facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, catering to a diverse clientele, including Fortune 500 companies, feature films, and small businesses.
In addition to his business success, Dave is involved in various organizations, serving on multiple boards in addition to the Film & Media Alliance of West Michigan, including Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce, the American Advertising Federation of West Michigan and the Michigan Film Industry Association.
Dave’s wealth of experience and dedication to Michigan’s film and multimedia industry has, and continues, to make a significant impact on his ultimate goal – to build a west Michigan production community second to none. Thank you, Dave!
